Dr. Samer Haj-Yehia is a distinguished economist and banking executive with extensive experience in financial markets and corporate governance. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Bank Leumi from 2019 to 2023, leading the bank to significant financial growth and positioning it as the most valuable financial institution in Israel.
Prior to his tenure at Bank Leumi, Dr. Haj-Yehia held key roles in global financial institutions and served on the boards of various leading companies. He spent two decades in the U.S. capital markets, specializing in macroeconomics, financial econometrics, and risk management.
Dr. Haj-Yehia holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), an MBA and an MA in Economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, as well as an LLB in Law. Additionally, he completed advanced studies in Accounting and Auditing at Tel Aviv University and holds a BA in Accounting and Economics from the Hebrew University.
